In its third year, PayPal’s Innovate developer conference was combined with eBay’s and Magento’s events to establish the X.commerce platform as the single destination for developers and merchants who want to shape the future of commerce. The PBJS experiential team was challenged with creating an event that would introduce this platform and its importance to developers.
In the months leading up to the conference, we launched a broad-based awareness campaign to generate intrigue and drive registration for the event, including paid media and the X.commerce mobile tour – featuring custom event tents, a custom-built technology bus, and a mix of digital and print collateral support – which visited developer events across the country. The event itself executed an overarching creative approach that united strategy, imagery, and content, all supported by the theme “Our Platform. Your Imagination.”

Frank Gruber of TechCocktail.com caught up with the X.commerce tour bus outside the NYC Tech Cocktail event at the General Assembly and took a look inside the bus. The X.commerce bus had been touring the country prior to the launch of the platform at the Innovate Conference.
